Our Philosophy

The Claim Department at Markel American Insurance Company believes:

• That through prompt contact of the insured and claimant we can investigate, evaluate, and resolve the claim in a timely manner with payment for claim settlements sent out the same day as the agreement.
• That the best Claim Examiners are those who have specialized training and experience with the type of property involved in the loss.
• That legitimate questions may arise in the interpretation of a policy, and such disputes should be weighed in favor of our policyholders.
• That we help keep premiums affordable for our policyholders by only paying what is owed under the policy – and vigorously fighting incidents of insurance fraud.
• That when a claim is not covered under a policy, the insured deserves a prompt notification in writing; and when possible, be given suggestions on how to proceed to diminish their loss, or avoid similar situations in the future.
• That we demand the same standard of professionalism and excellence of those assisting us in the claim investigation & damage appraisal as we demand of ourselves.
• That if we fulfill our promise to provide second to none claim service, our policyholders will choose to remain customers of the BROS Club Insurance Program and refer their friends to us.
